Clinical and Laboratory Evaluation of Infants and Children With Epstein - Barr Virus - Induced Infectious Mononucleosis : Report

چکیده
Previous studies in Ghana and the United States have shown that the great majority of primary Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infections in infants remain silent and fail to evoke hematologic and heterophil antibody responses typical of infectious mononucleosis (lM). In the present study. a search was made for cases of IM among children less than age 49 mo and a diagnosis of this disease was made in 32 patients. The great majority had fever. tonsillar pharyngitis. prominent cervical lymphadenopathy. and respiratory symptoms. There were significant differences in serologic responses between the 1 1 infants and toddlers aged 10-24 mo and 21 young children aged 26-48 mo. In particular. heterophil antibody responses were detected in only 3 of 1 1 infants (27.3%) compared with 1 6 (76.2%) of 21 children. The infants also had less prominent viral capsid antigen (VCA) specific 1gM antibody responses (63.6% versus 100%) and a lower frequency of peak lgG

Background: Epstein-Bar virus (EBV) causes infectious mononucleosis in more than 90% of children. Rarely, mononucleosis may lead to malignancy. The aim the current study was to introduce a child with mononucleosis and persistent adenopathy. Case report: A 4-year-old male patient presented with complaints of fever, shortness of breath and sore throat. He was treated with antibiotics and prednis...

Introduction Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection can present with a variety of manifestation. Case Report Here we present a case of a 7 year- old immunocompetent girl who came with acute abdominal pain , had echocardiographic evidence of myocardial dysfunction and finally was diagnosed as a case of serologically proven acute EBV infection. Conclusion...

Background & Objectives: The Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV( is related with various diseases including infectious mononucleosis, Burkitt's lymphoma, Hodgkin's lymphoma, nasopharyngeal carcinoma and post-transplant lymphoprolifrative disorders. The aim of this study was to characterize the association between EBV and Hodgkin's lymphoma through EBERs in situ hybridization (EBER-ISH) in Iranian pat...
متن کاملAcute Epstein - Barr virus hepatitis without mononucleosis syndrome: a case report
Elevated liver enzymes accompanied by Infectious Mononucleosis syndrome are widely seen in primary Epstein-Barr virus infection while acute symptomatic hepatitis without typical presentations of EBV is extremely rare. In the following report, we present a patient with acute isolated hepatitis due to laboratory confirmed Epstein-Barr virus.
متن کاملEvaluation of IL-17 and IL-10 Production in Infectious Mononucleosis in EBV Patients
Epstein–Barr virus is primarily the cause of acute infectious mononucleosis and can also cause lymphoma and autoimmune diseases. Th17 cells, which are a unique subset of ThCD4+ cells, direct the infection toward inflammation through production of inflammatory cytokine IL-17. In contrast, Treg Foxp3 cells inhibit inflammation through secretion of anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10, leading to chro...
